Home Remodel 2010

Since I purchased my home in July 2008, repairs have been needed as with any older abode. Little by little, small improvements have made to make it more presentable (although I'm still not ready to have a party of any kind here yet).

This past week, a couple of my uncles traveled out here from Cincinnati to help me accomplish some much needed remodeling of a couple of bathrooms. Jim, Lonzo and cousin Eddie (Lonzo's sister's kid) all did a lot of work, but Jim worked tirelessly for 8 days to get this done - kind of like a VERY mini extreme home makeover. Hopefully these pictures will do the transformations justice! We tore apart the downstairs 1/2 bath and laundry room, leveled the floors (it was bowed due to poor construction), painted and tiled both rooms and took out the ugly, old cabinets and put up wire shelving to create more storage - plus it made the room look bigger, despite the darker paint color.

Upstairs, they demolished and restructured the shower, took out the guts of the "closet" in the bathroom and tiled the shower and floors. Although they didn't finish the whole room, the biggest need was met so my friend Mike could come and help me get the rest of it done.

Lastly, I started repainting the rooms - so far, aside from the 2 bathrooms (I still have a 3rd bathroom to work on), we've managed to paint the living room. The walls are in a soft yellow color that REALLY brightens up the place - a special thanks to my good friends Tish and Karen for helping me with that. Still a lot more rooms to paint, but we will get them done :)
